Listen to the Night Films

Welcome to the world of Listen to the Night Films! We're more than just a film company; we're a collective of passionate individuals dedicated to exploring the darker side of cinema and celebrating Australian talent. We dive deep into the horror genre, producing chilling, thrilling, and thought-provoking films. Join us as we breathe new life into horror and immortalise the Australian landscape onto film.

Listen to the Night Films is the brain child of writer, producer Destiny West and writer, director and multi-media artist Casper Jean Rimbaud. Both agreed that there was a significant horror element missing from the Australian film industry and a definite lack of libido in the horror industry in general.

Casper Jean Rimbaud

Writer, Director, Editor, Musician, & Multimedia Artist

Casper Jean Rimbaud, a versatile filmmaker, poet, and novelist, was born in Bradford, England, before relocating to Melbourne, Australia. It was in Melbourne that he honed his craft, immersing himself in local theatre and contributing to various independent publications and poetry magazines. Struggling with mental health challenges during his teenage years, Rimbaud often weaves themes of mental illness and psychiatric disorders into his creative work, offering deeply personal and evocative narratives. In 2015, Rimbaud published his debut novel, *Post Encounter*, an alien abduction horror that quickly gained attention. This was followed by *High Strangeness*, a film prequel that he both wrote and directed. Rimbaud describes his unique cinematic style as "psychiatric horror," exploring the mind-bending qualities of psychosis and replicating the intense, disorienting experience of psychotic and paranoid states—what he humorously calls "...entertainment for the good folks at home." Rimbaud cites Stanley Kubrick, John Carpenter, and Ed Wood Jr. as his primary cinematic influences, blending their visionary styles with his own distinct exploration of the human psyche.

Destiny West

Award Winning Writer, Journalist, & Producer

Destiny West, born in Perth, Western Australia, embarked on her professional horror writing journey in 2000 while living in the UK. Over the years, she has penned numerous short stories, earning the 'Best Short Horror Story of 2004' award for her chilling tale, Craven. That same year, she joined Red Scream Magazine, an underground American horror publication, as an interviewer. Her distinctive storytelling approach, where interviews unfolded in a dungeon-like narrative, quickly set her apart. She was later promoted to Non-Fiction Editor and eventually became the Editor-in-Chief.

In 2007, Destiny released her debut novel, Lamia, a provocative blend of erotica and horror. Its bold content was deemed too extreme for mainstream audiences, solidifying her reputation for pushing creative boundaries. Beyond fiction, Destiny spent nearly a decade as a mainstream journalist, contributing a regular newspaper column. In 2016, she co-founded a film production company with fellow writer and filmmaker Casper Jean Rimbaud, further expanding her creative endeavors.

Currently, Destiny writes and reviews for Horrortainment News and co-hosts the podcast Ozploitation. Her passion for horror traces back to her childhood, sparked by her first Hammer Horror film and an enduring fascination with Dracula and vampires.

Despite facing significant health challenges, including an inoperable brain tumor—which she humorously claims fuels her dark imagination—and Trigeminal neuralgia, Destiny remains undeterred. Her unwavering dedication to storytelling and filmmaking proves that nothing can dim her creative spirit.
